 Counselling

My Approach

The most important aspect of any therapy, regardless of modality, is the therapeutic relationship. I work in a creative, collaborative way and in your initial consultation we can discuss and explore what might work for you.

The therapeutic environment is also important. I work from a pleasant, purpose built counselling room that provides a peaceful, safe collaborative space. It has it's own private access with parking on the drive.

You may have been thinking of seeing someone for some time, and I understand that it might feel difficult to take the first step. However, once taken, it may lead to a better understanding of how you find yourself, where you are in your life and how it may become more fulfilling.

I can draw on a number of methods to find a way of working that suits you and supports your exploration. This might be talking through what you are finding difficult at the moment. We can also use tools such as sand tray, clay or other materials should you wish to explore a particular issue or situation in that way.

I work with both adults and young people from 16 years onward. I can offer short term therapy to support you through a difficult period. Should you wish to explore a particular issue, time limited work may provide you with a better understanding of where you are, and help develop strategies to navigate the difficulties. I can also offer an open-ended approach to explore in more depth or address historical issues. This does not mean that therapy may last for years, rather, we see where the therapy takes you and when the time feels right for you we can then work towards an ending.

Your initial consultation will last for approximately 75 minutes, subsequent counselling sessions will last for 50 minutes and take place at the same time on the same day each week.

My role, as your therapist, is to facilitate your journey as I believe everyone has the ability to find the answers they seek and what they need inside themselves.
